The Space

This 4 acre island is a dedicated space for rest, renewal and nature immersion. There is a trail that loops the island passing through diverse ecosystems. The retreat house is off grid with rustic amenities including a propane fridge and stove, a covered gazebo/outdoor kitchen space, a solar power charging station and an outhouse facility.​ In total up to 12 people can sleep indoors on camping mats. There are 2 allocated tent-camping zones on the island as well. Alcohol and the use of mind altering consumables are not permitted on the island and smoking tabacco is permitted only on the dock. 

The Retreat House

​The retreat house is a 1200 sq/ft two storey building accessible by water. The upper level is an open concept 20'x30' room featuring french doors leading out to a balcony perched over the water. This space sits 12-15 people comfortably with room for yoga mats and movement. In this area camping mats can be set up for 6 people to sleep comfortably.

On the main floor of the building, there is a wood stove and small kitchenette area. The space is open concept and can accommodate spaces for 6 camping mats.

 

The Outdoor Kitchen​​

In the warm months cooking and eating happens outdoors in the covered gazebo by the water. There is a picnic table and outdoor furniture as well.

Outhouse Facility

There is an outhouse at the top of the hill about 75 ft from the retreat house. In addition, there is a Separett composting toilet located in the woodshed for folks with limited mobility.

The Landscape

The small island is brimming with medicinal plants and a breathtaking array of lichen and mosses. The land requires protection and care to ensure the survival and growth of the fragile fauna. Guests are asked to stay on the designated trails and refrain from forraging.

Camping

Due to the fragile plant life on the island, there are only 2 designated tent-camping zones.

Back to Basics lifestyle

There is cell phone reception on the island however only enough to receive text messages, possibly send an email and make short calls. The retreat house is heated by a wood stove and power banks are provided for charging devices upon request. There is no electricity or plumbing (no hot water) on Oddiyana.
